Edward Tempa “Eddie” Heald, Jr.

Edward Tempa “Eddie” Heald, Jr. passed away very peacefully on Sunday, August 21, 2016.  Eddie was born in Houston, Texas on August 1, 1950 and is preceded in death by his father Edward T. Heald, Sr.

Eddie is survived by his mother Evelyn Herrmann Heald; sister, Geneva Benet (Steve); brothers Mark Heald and Craig (Cindy) Heald.  He is survived by many nieces and nephews, Stephanie Benet Gomez (Benjamin), Cristen Heald Crites (Jonathan), Karli Benet Barmore (Sean), Alan (CJ) Heald, Jr., Markel Heald Simpson (Bobby), Clay Heald, Austin Heald and Cameron Heald; along with many great nieces and nephews, Taylor, Emily, Aaron, Collin and Evie Gomez; Lincoln, Henry and William Crites; Joshua Barmore; and Mason, Damian, Zoe and Trevor Simpson.

Eddie graduated from Ross Sterling High School, Houston, Texas in 1970 and lived life to its fullest.  He was one of a kind and an expert at taking things apart but not always putting it back together very well. He loved sports especially NASCAR.

Eddie loved his family and was very committed to them.  Growing up Eddie was always the silly one and acted goofy.  All of the siblings always hung out together whether it was taking a road trip to California in mom and dad’s Buick to look for that big wave, or head to the mountains to visit his sister when Eddie decided to go snow skiing but refused to take a lesson.  Eddie would ski and fall all the way down the mountain as his sister watched with binoculars, or at home jumping off the house into the pool.  Eddie knew how to have fun.

Most of all he was a very devoted son to his mother.  After the loss of his father, Eddie stepped in and took over the role of taking care of his mom.  It was not unusual for Eddie and his mom Evelyn to hop in the car and take a road trip.  In the last years of his life, he spent his time cooking and taking care of her, which his family will always be very grateful for his sacrifice.

The service celebrating Eddie’s life will be held at 3:00pm Saturday, August 27, 2016, at Niday Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Forest Park East Cemetery.
