Mary Ann Spain

Heaven is a more beautiful place as it is with a heavy heart that our beautiful mother Mary Ann Spain at the age of 79 was welcomed into the Heavenly Kingdom of our Lord and Savior after a long and courageous battle with Dementia on May 15, 2017.

Mary Ann was one of three children born to Devoy Wiley Rhodes and Dora Mae Ault Rhodes In Donaldson, Arkansas. She attended school there where she was a cheerleader, she played basketball, she was in glee club, and she loved to write. She graduated High School and went on to Henderson State College, where she was studying to become a teacher, but her life took a different path when she became pen pals with a sailor and they wrote each other and fell in love with Nathan who would become her husband of 57 years.  Dad said after six months he had to propose and make her his wife.  He was stationed in San Diego and could not get leave and so he sent mom the money to come to be married. It has been a match made in heaven and dad has been by her side to the very end of her life.

She is preceded in death by her father and mother, and brother Bill. She leaves behind loving husband, Nathan, daughter, Stephanie and her husband Chris Harris, son, Brian Spain and wife Linda, son, Derrick Spain and wife Stacey. Grandchildren; Shaun Harris, Nick Harris and wife Heather, Annie Harris, Krista Harris and Arbey Reyes, Tiffany Spain and Tommy Douglas, Ryan Spain, Taylor Spain and Sam.  Austin Spain, Paige Spain and Devon Ward. Great Grand Children; Gabriel Harris, Kaedyn Harris, Corey Douglas, Kaleb Harris, Chloe Harris, Angela Harris and Brooklynn Reyes.

It is our mothers wish to be cremated and one day be interned with her husband of 57 years at the Veterans National Cemetery in Houston.
