Al Franz


Allan Ray Franz, (Al), passed away on August 9, 2017 at the age of 87.  He was born on June 2, 1930 in Houston, TX  to James B. Franz, Sr. and Ada Elizabeth Franz.  He is preceded in death by his parents James and Ada Franz, wife Donna Sue Franz and daughter Terri Richards. He is survived by his sons, Steve Franz and wife Kathy and  Curtis Franz; daughter, Donna Franz Hinnant and husband Dan Neffendorf; grandsons, Rory Ballard, Clay and Wade Richards and wife Janna, Kendall and Clint Hinnant; granddaughters, Jamie Franz Glasscock and husband Landry, Susan Franz, and Wendy Hinnant and 16 great grandchildren, one great grandchild and loving nieces and nephews.

His smile was contagious and warmed the hearts of everyone he met. He was a very loving, kind hearted, generous man and was a very good friend to many.

Rejoice with us that he has been reunited with loving wife and family.

Al attended school in Houston, graduating from Milby High School in 1948 and attended U of H before beginning his career with Continental Emsco in Business Development for many years, before starting his own business as a home remodeler.

Al served as a Deacon at South Main Baptist Church and was very active in the church, which he dearly loved.  He enjoyed visiting others with the Homebound Ministries and less fortunate that were in hospitals, to pray with them. He was also active in the SMBC traveling men’s constructions ministry.

The family will receive friends Sunday, August 13th from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Niday Fairmont Funeral Home, 6777 Fairmont Pkwy, Pasadena, TX 77505.  The Funeral service will be held Monday, August 14th, at 2:00pm with visitation one hour prior to the service at South Main Baptist Church, 4300 East Sam Houston Pkwy, Pasadena, TX 77505. Interment will follow at Forest Park East, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598.
