Denise Annette Schlosser, age 59, passed away on January 28, 2018. Denise was born on March 27, 1958 in Houston, Texas; the first child to Wylma Green Gensemer and Donald Schlosser.  She graduated from Dobie High School in 1976, obtained her cosmetology license, and attended San Jacinto College.

Denise was a dedicated and gifted hair stylist in the Channelview area for over 40 years; having clientele that were faithful for decades. Some of her most loyal clients were family members who were “practice dummies” during her cosmetology training.   Several family members even traveled hours to have Denise work her magic.  Family members would plan their appointments together to meet and spend time as family while getting their hair done.  During these visits, it became obvious that her clients were not just customers but long-time friends.

Denise’s primary passion was spending time with her family and friends, particularly her nieces, nephews, and godchildren. She was an avid movie buff and a master of trivia.  She enjoyed cooking, music, and was “TheExpert Party Planner”.  She loved playing games—all games—she loved the challenge and the competition, but mostly that it was a cherished time with family and friends.

She is preceded by her beloved mother, Wylma Green Gensemer of Navasota, Texas and her father Donald C. Schlosser of Houston, Texas.

Denise is survived by her dad, Ralph “Gibbie” Gensemer of Bryan; mom, Carolyn Schlosser of Katy; sisters, Dawn Schlosser of Houston, Danette Graham and husband George of Pasadena, April Gensemerand Mercedes Ochoa of Bryan; brothers, Darren Schlosser and wife Caroline of Rosharon, Steven Schlosser of Houston, and Carl Gensemer of Amarillo; nieces and nephews, Christopher Schlosser of Austin, Megan Gensemer of Amarillo, Courtney Schlosser of Rosharon, David Gensemer of Amarillo, and Kaylee Gensemer of Hartsville, Tennessee; godchildren, Chandler Gaspard, Krista Garrison, and Dusty Garrison; extended family, Sandra Fortner and husband Joseph of Katy, Thomas Ledbetter and wife Elizabeth of Livingston; numerous other precious relatives and a host of friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, 13125 Indianapolis Street, Houston, Texas 77015. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church.

Denise was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, aunt, godmother, and friend. She will truly be missed by all.
