It with great sadness that the family of Gwynn Mary (Bass) Myers, 66, announces her passing on February 9, 2018, after a long battle with diabetes and heart disease. She will be deeply missed, but her family takes great comfort in knowing that she has been reunited with her husband, mother, and grandmother in the presence of our Heavenly Father. Gwynn will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Kristy Myers and Stephanie Ballard, son-in-Law TJ Ballard, grandchildren Devin, Samantha, Skylar, and Logan Ballard, nephew and niece John Myers and Mary Aparicio.

Gwynn was born September 3, 1951 in Camden, AR to Mary (Garner) Bass, where she grew up living with her mother and beloved grandmother, Sally Lu “Mama” Garner, and surrounded by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She had a happy childhood, spending most of her younger years in both Camden and Houston, TX. Gwynn briefly attended San Jacinto College where she met her beloved husband, Michael “Dan” Myers. It was love at first sight, and they were married six months later. Both Gwynn and Dan rejoiced in the birth of their two daughters. Gwynn’s dream from childhood was to be a stay-at-home mom to her children, and she was given her wish shortly before her oldest daughter started school. Gwynn was very involved in the lives and activities of her children – volunteering at school, attending activities, and being the best taxi service a child could ask for. In addition, she was the sole caretaker for her sick husband, making many sacrifices for her family to ensure that they were happy and knew they were loved. After his own long battle with diabetes, her husband passed away, and she turned all of her focus to caring for her children and mother.

Gwynn adored her four grandchildren and was also actively involved in their lives and activities. Whether it was sports events, dance recitals, school performances, church activities, graduations, or award ceremonies, Gwynn attended everything that she could, even on the occasions that she wasn’t feeling well. She was very proud of her grandchildren and took great joy in watching them grow up.

Gwynn loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and her faith showed through everything that she did. At a young age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. She was very involved with her throughout her entire life, even serving as a charter member, with her husband, at Timber Lakes Baptist Church in The Woodlands, Texas. Gwynn will be remembered by all as a very sweet woman who loved others and would give anything she had to help others.

The celebration of Gwynn’s life will be held Thursday, February 15, 2018 at South Main Baptist Church in Pasadena. Visitation will be from 5:00pm-6:00pm, with the service celebrating Gwen’s life starting at 6:00pm. Interment will be at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery in Houston at 10:00am on Friday morning, where she will be laid to rest with her husband.
