Joe Arthur Stanfill, a child of God through our Lord, Jesus Christ, and formerly of Deer Park, passed away at the age of 82 on March 6, 2018.

He was born June 21, 1935 in Scotts Hill, TN to Arthur Franklin and Cora Bartholomew Stanfill.  Joe served in the US Navy during the Korean War on active duty from 1952 to 1956 and then in the Naval Reserve from 1956 to 1960.  He attained the rate of MML3.

Joe returned to Tennessee following his active duty and married Bessie Martin Ellis in June, 1960 becoming the stepfather of Teresa Ellis and Paul Lucas Ellis.  He and Bessie then had their only child, Joetta Stanfill, in 1961.  He worked full-time during the day and attended vocational school at night for six years to become a Machinist I.  He then moved with his family to Houston, Texas and worked as a Machinist at Dresser Industries, Brown & Root, Ethyl Corporation and finally retired from Albemarle in Deer Park.

After Joe and Bessie divorced, he then married Norma Jean Stanfield Dickert and became the stepfather of Wanda Dickert Bamberg, Gary Wayne Dickert, Kathy Dickert Beasley  and Bobbie Dickert Byrd.  Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his second wife, Norma Jean Stanfill, and his stepdaughter, Kathy Beasley.

He is survived by his daughter, Joetta Stanfill Janczak and husband, Charles; his stepchildren, Teresa Hopson and husband, Terry, Paul Ellis and wife, Lana, Wanda Bamberg and husband, Bob, Gary Dickert and wife, Mary, Bobbie Bird and many step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; brother James Franklin Stanfill and wife Donice, many nieces and great nieces and nephews and many friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 8, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Niday – Fairmont Funeral Home in Pasadena.  A graveside service will be held Friday, March 9, at 2:00pm at Grand View Memorial Park.
