Joseph D. “Joe” Ross


Joseph D. Ross passed away in The Woodlands, Texas on March 9, 2018.  He was born December 11, 1929 in Rochester, New York to Francis and Mary Ross.  Joe lived in Rochester until he enlisted in the Army on January 18, 1954.  Joe was assigned to the 121st Evac Unit and served as a medic in Korea. Joe was discharged from the Army on August 1, 1957.  During retirement years Joe was rarely seen in public without his Korean veteran cap.

Upon his return to the States, Joe worked as a barber and eventually opened his own barber shop in Rochester, New York.  Joe married Julie on January 9, 1954, just before shipping off to Korea.  Together they had two sons, Frank and Richard.  Joe loved his family, his country and his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Joe is survived by his wife Julie, son Richard, son Frank and daughter in-law Lori with grandsons Brady and Ryan.

The service honoring Joe’s life will be at 10:00am Thursday, March 15, 2018, in the Chapel at the Houston National Cemetery, with U.S. Army honors.
