Debbie Mahaffey

Debbie Mahaffey, 52, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday March 22, 2018.  She courageously battled to save her home and family pets from a house fire on March 7, 2018.

Debbie dedicated her professional life to early childhood education, caring for special needs individuals and helping disadvantaged children. She often said she had never had a bad day at work “loving those kids.” She had tremendous natural warmth and compassion that put children at ease when they were around her. Her passions were baking, crafting, spending time with and nurturing her children, nieces, nephews, grandkids and great-nieces & great-nephews. A lifelong special treat for her nieces & nephews was a tradition of making cookies at Christmas time.

Debbie’s faith in God began in early childhood and her heart for the Lord continued to grow while active in church throughout her life. She had even considered a career as a missionary, and her first mission trip was to Fort Smith, Arkansas.

She is survived by her husband Kevin Mahaffey, daughter Kara Mahaffey, son Kent Mahaffey, stepson Kevin Mahaffey II and his wife Amanda, stepdaughter Kristi Mahaffey Nord, her husband Jon, and their four children, Sean, Zachary, Alex & Abby, loving parents Eddie & Carole Dillow, sister Dawn Dillow, brother Eddie Dillow Jr, niece Amanda Jamison, and her husband Phil, and their four children, Payton, Eli, Madison and Harper, niece Ashlee Goodwin and her two children, Hunter and Jaxon,  and nephews Korey Goodwin, Kaleb Goodwin.

Her boundless unconditional love and immeasurable kindness will be deeply missed by all her family, friends, co-workers and many others whom she touched.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to family and friends for their support as well as the wonderful medical staff at Memorial Hermann Houston Downtown for the outstanding service and love shown to Debbie during her brave battle.

Visitation will be from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Monday, March 26, 2018, at Niday – Fairmont Funeral Home in Pasadena.  Her Celebration of Life service will be at 2:00pm Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at First Baptist Church in Pasadena. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster.
