Kim Berryhill

Kim (Whitaker) Berryhill went home to be with the Lord on March 27, 2018.  Her passing was unexpected and a severe shock to her family and close friends.  She had suffered for many years from migraines and fibromyalgia, which frequently left her with pain and the frustrations related to not being able to do many of the things in her heart.  She is now with Jesus and is no longer subject to pain or frustration – only joy.

Kim was a skilled musician, often playing piano for those closest to her in the home church she loved so much.  In the evenings she would often sit at the piano, put on a prayer shawl and pray to the Lord, and then practice songs to use the following Sunday.  In the blending of her faith and talents, she set Phil 4:4 to music and often sang “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I say rejoice!”  This has been an encouragement to many and is now perhaps the best way to remember her.  She never thought much of herself or her accomplishments, but she left a very deep impression on so many.

Kim was born January 1, 1962 and as a child moved to Columbia, SC.  In high school she met Scott Berryhill, who proceeded to “chase her until she caught him”.  They married July 2, 1983, beginning a wonderful life together lasting almost 35 years.

Kim is survived by her husband Scott Berryhill, daughter Lara Saldana and husband Eli, son Benjamin Berryhill and wife Bethany, son Andrew Berryhill and wife Jessica, and daughter Jennifer Barker and husband Jonathan, plus six grandchildren: Jason, Josiah, Elise and Ivy Saldana, Jack Berryhill and Claire Berryhill.  All of this wonderful family is nearby; and learning to be a grandmother (“Nana”) was a particular joy to her.  Kim is also survived by her father Ray Whitaker, brother Paul Whitaker and his wife Betty, sister Karen Hartsfield and her husband Jim.  She was also dearly loved by her parents-in-law, Rudy and Betty Jones, who took her into their hearts as one of their own.  In addition, Kim leaves behind a unique and much-loved group of very close friends, many dating back to high school days.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00am Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at Niday Funeral Home – Beamer Chapel, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kim’s name to Texas Right to Life.
