Naomi Crane, 73, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 29 in The Woodlands, Texas. She is preceded in death by her two sons, Kerry and Bobby. Naomi is survived by her husband of 46 years, Don Crane; children: Cathy and David Schulba of Sagemont, and Jimmy and Debbie Crane, of The Woodlands; grandchildren: Bob and Julie Coonce and their children Cash and Katie; Brandy and Stephen Wells and their children Nicholas and Macie; Aaron and Kelli Schulba; Kevin Schulba; Alison, Valerie and Caitlin Crane.
Naomi was born in Asheville, North Carolina to Collet and Catherine Clark. As a child she was diagnosed with rheumatic fever which initiated a family move to Arizona. Later Naomi returned to Texas and, in 1965, married Donald Crane. Together they raised three children and settled down in the South Belt area. They lived there for 15 years, supporting their children and grandchildren in their various activities. An avid Dallas Cowboys fan, Naomi and the family would plan their Sundays around game time, and she would watch intently, cheering on her Cowboys. Around 1987, a job opportunity in California came up and Naomi and Don spent the next two years enjoying life as empty nesters. This proved to be one of the happiest times of Naomi’s life, as Naomi and Don spent their weekends gallivanting around California. Their next adventure took them to New York to take care of their grandchildren, Alison, Valerie, and Caitlin. A year later they returned to Texas and established roots in The Woodlands. Naomi spent the last twenty one years constantly surrounded by her family and friends whom loved her greatly.
The family will receive friends from 5:00pm until 7:00pm Sunday, July 31, and the service celebrating Naomi’s life will be at 11:00am Monday, August 1, all held at Niday Funeral Home, 12440 Beamer Road, in Houston, 77089. Burial will follow at 2:30pm Tuesday, August 2, at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, 77038.
