Betty Ruth Konzack

Betty Ruth Konzack, only child born December 29, 1924 to Mattie Reed and Grayson Henderson in Houston, died suddenly on February 27, 2010 in Pasadena. She spent much of her childhood in Oak Park, Texas with her adored grandmother. Betty graduated from Reagan High School in Houston and married her high school sweetheart Bob Fulghum. They had five daughters: Bettye Fulghum, Nancy Jones, Linda Taylor and husband Larry Boles, Carol Greiner and husband Carl, and Debra Johnson.
Betty and Bob divorced in 1966. In 1968, Betty married Herman Konzack, and together they had many outdoor adventures in Arizona and New Mexico. After nearly twenty years of marriage, Betty and Herman parted ways. Betty then enjoyed traveling. She visited all 48 continental states over the years, and also enjoyed long-term visits with her daughters in Wyoming, Michigan, Louisiana, and Texas.
For most of her adult life, she kept her camera close and took literally millions of pictures of her family and her many travels.
Her dearly loved extended family includes 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She had special relationships with her many grandchildren and was a very important part of their lives.
Betty had various jobs, even working as a secretary in the early 1960’s to help her family when most women stayed at home. But her life’s focus in her later years was her children and grandchildren. We will miss her terribly.
Visitation will be from 4:00pm-6:00pm Thursday, March 4th, at Niday Funeral Home. The Graveside Service celebrating Betty’s life will be at 1:00pm Friday at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
