Robert C. Brown, 85, passed away February 11, 2012 after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Bob was born in Houston August 28, 1926.
At the age of 15 he joined the U.S. Navy and served in World War II. While serving in the Navy he was aboard the USS Liscombe Bay when a Japanese submarine torpedoed and sunk the carrier on Thanksgiving morning of 1943. He was one of only 300 survivors of the 900 sailors on board.
Bob graduated from University of Houston, and worked for Texas International Airlines and Continental Airlines when he retired from the Navy. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved to go fishing or just relax at his 2nd home in Rockport, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Delores Brown, and by his oldest son Bruce Brown. He is survived by his youngest son, Kyle Brown and wife Wendy; daughter-in-law Debra Brown; and grandchildren: Aaron Brown and wife Anna, Brandon Brown and wife Ericka, Stephen Brown and wife Leslie, Amber Brown, Ryan Brown and wife Katelynn and Kristen; great-grandchildren: Cameron, Chase, Cade, Brent, Bryce and Macy.

The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Wednesday, February 15, and the funeral service will be at 11:00am Thursday, February 16, both held at Niday Funeral Home on Beamer. Interment will follow at Houston National Cemetery at 1:30pm.
