Johnie “Pete” Paul Godwin, Jr.
Johnie “Pete” Paul Godwin, Jr. passed away at home peacefully in the presence of family June 29, 2012. He was born November 3, 1933 in Washington D.C., and raised in Jackson, Mississippi, and joined the United States Air Force and later moved to Houston, Texas.
Pete is preceded in death by his parents, Johnie Godwin, Sr., Bessie Gilmore Godwin, and daughter Lori Godwin. He is survived by his sister, Geraldine Godwin Kilpatrick; mother of his children Glynda Chaney; son Jeffery Godwin and wife Tish; daughter Melissa Godwin Walker and husband Randy, loving grandfather of five: Lindsay Nicole Clouser, Joshua Paul Godwin, Emily Grace Walker, Zachary Paul Gonzales and Wesley Paul Godwin.
Pete was an avid fisherman. If he did not have the chance to go fishin’ he certainly was talking about the best fishing hole.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Thursday, July 5th, at Niday Funeral Home – Beamer Chapel, with visitation one hour prior to the service, starting at 1:00pm. Interment will follow at Houston National Cemetery on Friday, July 6th at 9:30am.
